Practical Holiday Gifts For Your WFH Friend

If you’re going to do some holiday shopping, you might as well do it right. Blogmas Day 6 features gifts for your work-from-home friends that they will love. A lot of these are finds from TikTok or listening to the lists of my WFH friends.

A Planner

I am a firm believer that everyone needs a planner. Don’t believe me? I just sent my sister a planner and coffee beans for Christmas. A Planner is essential to your life, but also the work-from-home friend who might get their days mixed up. I mean, they’re not really going anywhere but to the couch and back. This is also great for when they have all those work projects due but nowhere to write them. Post-it notes on the walls did a great job in college. Now that you’re sharing that living room with people, I don’t think they’re going to enjoy seeing your 12 p.m. presentation plastered on the wall.

Where to buy:

A really great option is the Erin Condren Planner, which is my favorite but it’s not affordable. So, a great second would be the Happy Planner or head to your local target, where I got my 2021 planner

Coffee or Coffee-Related Products

Since there isn’t a commute to work, there’s no longer a stop at your local coffee shop before work. Your WFH friend is tired. Sure, they wake up 20 minutes before logging in, but your work-from-home friend is exhausted. I have been gifting almost all of my friends’ coffee, it is a gift that you know they’ll use. A coffee machine may be outrageously expensive, but a pour-over machine isn’t. If that is still out of your price range, get them a mug or amug warmer. A mug-warmer is a perfect and affordable idea for that friend who has a long meeting and their coffee or tea gets cold before they can finish it.

Where to buy:

Amazon is selling a Mr. Coffee mug warmer that will end up under someone’s Christmas tree for $10.99. This affordable cup warmer will keep their coffee feeling warm and that energy flowing… for as long as the camera is on.

Candles

If you watched my Instagram story yesterday, you know why this is included. Bath and Body Works took all my hard-earned money and I am ashamed. Take advantage of their yearly sale and get some soothing candles for your friend. I love candles because they not only smell good, but the essential oils can be relaxing, and what’s more stressful than working in the living room you bought for sleep and TV.

Where to buy:

If you want to hop on to the sale, your obvious option is Bath and Body Works. You can break out that Victoria’s Secret Credit Card you got back when you were 18. If you want to support a new black-owned small business, you can shop Sincerely Sie, who just launched her business last week. She ships throughout the country and personally delivers throughout NYC, so you can get a taste of Christmas to your door ASAP.

A Desk

Sounds stupid. However, a lot of people do not have desks. When the pandemic started, I wanted to focus more on my blog; I wanted a desk. I came across this gorgeous desk on TikTok that was an Amazon find. I didn’t buy it because I am poor, but I’m here to tell you about it for your WFH friend that you love. This is an adjustable desk that will change heights so they can work either sitting or standing. It makes a wonderful gift for someone who knows they will be working from home indefinitely.

Where to find:

Amazon has this buy for $400. However, if you head to their website and look up adjustable desks, you can find cheaper alternatives to the brand. You have a work-from-home friend who likes to work from the park or couch, get a travel desk for them.

Make Note

If a planner is too aggressive for your work-from-home friend, they still have to take notes. Help them be the coolest worker on Zoom with an Acrylic Dry Erase Board. Russel + Hazel has the one that has been all over TikTok for $35. All they need is the board, a dry-erase marker, and some tissue to clean it once they’re done. I love this because it doesn’t only work for your regular work-from-home friends but also your teacher work-from-home friends and your budding Youtuber friends

Where to find:

This can be bought on Amazon if you look up the company. If you’re on a tight budget and don’t want to spend money on that, here’s a hack. A DIY acrylic dry-erase board is just the glass from a picture frame. Head to your closest dollar tree and make it yourself.

Blue Light Blockers

I live for blue light blockers and I believe that everyone needs a pair in their life. If you are unaware of what blue light blockers are, they are glasses with a light that helps to block the blue lights emitted by screens. “Why is that bad Brianna?’ Well, Blue light can mess with your REM cycle. The light emitted by your phone, laptop, and TV is probably why you cannot go to bed at night. Remedy that with a pair of glasses to block that light. If you suffer from headaches or eye strain, this will also be a great help. I have worn blue light-blocking lenses for the last year, and I am never going back.

Where to find:

If you’re getting them for the work-from-home with good vision, Amazon has some pretty affordable options under $20. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to wake up and just see, so that’s why I love Jins. This California-based eyewear company sells the most affordable blue light blockers which you can add to your regular prescription. I prefer them to the average eyewear brand, and I have gotten several pairs of glasses from this company.

When in doubt, get them a water bottle. It’s no secret that we are not drinking enough water. My organs may or may not do a happy dance when it sees water. Do your friends a favor and get them a motivational water bottle that they can use. Not only is it a cute new accessory, but a water bottle is an efficient way to not use plastic and remind yourself to drink water. Hopefully these gift ideas helped. Whether its the friend who is serious about their job or the one who has their whole life together, I got you!
